We offer psychiatry treatment, medicolegal, fitness for duty and independent opinions and reports. A referral from your General Practitioner is required to schedule an appointment for treatment. A psychiatrist is a medical practitioner with a specialist qualification in psychiatry. By virtue of her specialist training she is able to bring a comprehensive and integrated approach to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychiatric disorders and mental health problems. Dr O’Hare will work primarily with your General Practitioner but also with families and other carers as necessary. Dr O’Hare is trained to recognise and treat both the physical and emotional effects of a psychiatric disorder in order to provide relief from the suffering of a range of developmental, emotional and behavioural disorders. You are encouraged to establish yourself with your own General Practitioner, if you have not already done so. Dr O’Hare will cooperate with your GP in any way she can to help achieve optimal health care.
You are encouraged to bring a list of questions to your appointment where Dr O’Hare can respond to them in the first person. Staff at the Clinic are not qualified to comment on treatment, medication or other elements of your care.
No Dr O’Hare is not a qualified Child Psychiatrist and chooses not to see patients under the age of 18.
Dr O’Hare would arrange admission under the care of another psychiatrist if this were required as she does not admit patients. After discharge, most patients return to fnq clinic for ongoing care.
Dr O’Hare understands that the therapeutic alliance is a very important part of any successful treatment. If you feel comfortable, raise this with her in your session and you can discuss other options. If you would prefer you can return to your GP for referral elsewhere but remember to cancel any future appointments to avoid a fee.
This depends on your condition. Dr O’Hare can assist you with this question face to face as everyone’s needs are different.
